Love in Action: Our Partners Respond to the Crisis

Across the Middle East, the ongoing conflict has brought immense suffering, uncertainty and loss. Communities in Gaza, the West Bank, Israel and Lebanon continue to face the devastating human consequences of war. Yet even in the midst of fear and destruction, our Christian partners remain steadfast in their commitment to serve their neighbours.

These partners are often directly affected by the violence themselves. Their staff have faced displacement, damaged homes and personal loss. And still, day after day, they continue to show up for their communities, offering medical care, shelter, counselling, education and practical support to those who need it most.

Emergency shelters – Lebanon

As violence escalated and thousands fled their homes in southern Lebanon, several of our partners quickly converted community centres into emergency shelters. Families arrived with very few belongings, often after leaving their homes in the middle of the night. In these spaces, partners are providing mattresses, blankets and basic necessities, helping displaced people find safety and dignity during an uncertain time.

Medical teams serving displaced communities

Medical teams from Embrace partners, including the Karagheusian Association and Tahaddi, have been visiting these shelters to provide vital healthcare for displaced families. In crowded and stressful conditions, illnesses can spread quickly and existing health problems often worsen. By offering early medical care, treatment and advice, these teams are helping prevent further health crises among vulnerable people.

Emergency supplies distribution

Our partners MERATH (Middle East Revive and Thrive), MECC (Middle East Council of Churches) and Pontifical Mission to Lebanon are distributing emergency supplies to families who fled the fighting with almost nothing. Volunteers have delivered blankets, mattresses and warm clothing to shelters hosting elderly people, children and families in urgent need. Their work is driven by a deep commitment to show the love of Christ in practical ways to those facing hardship.

Supporting vulnerable communities in the West Bank

In the midst of escalating tensions and hardship across the region, our partner Caritas Jerusalem continues to stand alongside vulnerable communities in Palestine and Israel. Through healthcare services, humanitarian assistance and community support, their teams are responding to urgent needs while working to protect dignity and strengthen resilience. Even in the shadow of conflict, they remain committed to offering practical help and hope to those most affected.

The photographs below capture moments from this extraordinary work. They tell stories of courage, resilience and solidarity, glimpses of love in action from those who continue to serve even in the darkest circumstances.
