Working for peace in Israel/Palestine

LEAH’S STORY

A unique project run by Embrace partner Musalaha brings Palestinian and Israeli women together to promote dialogue and understanding. The training workshops in skills such as listening, bridge building, conflict resolution and reconciliation, equip women to be agents of change in their communities. For Leah, a young Israeli woman, being given the chance to meet and talk with Palestinian women is vitally important.

‘I had not had the opportunity to meet with Palestinians as they are not in my circle and Israelis and Palestinians often do not meet. They go to different schools, speak different languages, and even shop in different stores often.

‘I found the program to be extremely important, especially nowadays, when there is almost no room for Israelis and Palestinians to meet. I do hope we will be able to continue our mutual dialogue, as our governments don't really talk.

‘I visited Bethlehem for the first time this year, and I am now learning spoken Arabic, so that I can communicate with the others better.’
