Stories from the war in Gaza: “Both my home and my workplace have been destroyed”

RAMY & MARINA’S STORY

Like many Christians in Gaza, Ramy, Marina and their 15-month-old-son, have lost everything. Their only home is now St Porphyrios Orthodox Church. Their story was sent to us by our partner in Jerusalem, Pontifical Mission for Palestine:

Since 7 October, my dreams have been shattered. My home and workplace were destroyed by airstrikes. I worked at the Arab Orthodox Cultural and Social Center (AOCSC). I currently "live" in St Porphyrios Orthodox Church in war-torn Gaza city.

Tragically, many of my loved ones and friends have died in airstrikes. I have been supporting both Christians and Muslims, providing whatever relief I can find and distribute. This has also helped me cope.

I once dreamed of building a prosperous future for my family and the community in Gaza, but this horrific war has forced me to reconsider that. My priority now is simply ensuring the safety of my family.
