Weekly devotion: Living as one household of God
Here at Embrace, the compassion and hard work of our dedicated supporters is something that inspires us every single day. This week, we are setting aside time to give thanks for all those who give their time and energy to Embrace. We are so grateful for all everyone who organises and participates in fundraising events, raising vital funds to support our Christian partners’ mission in the Middle East. Thank you!
Bible reading
‘But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.’
1 Peter 2:9-10
Thought
From our partners in the Middle East to our supporters in the UK, from our staff team to our dedicated volunteers, we are all part of the Embrace family. Whatever our role – be it enabling, planning or implementing projects – together we have the enormous privilege of being part of the one household of God (1 Timothy 3:15).
Ask yourself: Set aside some time to meditate on what it means to be part of the ‘one household of God’ in the context of Embrace. How might this lead you to ‘declare God’s praises’ today?
Prayer
Merciful God,
We praise you that you are a God of light and in you there is no darkness. Thank you that you have called us out of darkness and into your wonderful light.
Thank you for the light that emanates from Embrace’s partners in the Middle East. As they support marginalised people to flourish, may you cause ripple effects to spread across neighbourhoods and communities.
Thank you for Embrace’s committed and generous supporters. We thank you for their solidarity and faithfulness; may you continue to bless them.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
