Weekly devotion: Christ is risen!

View of the Old City, Jerusalem.

Christ is risen! On Easter Sunday, we rejoiced in the message of the Resurrection. As we continue to reflect on the blessings of Easter, we give thanks for those continuing Jesus’ ministry in the Middle East today. We ask for Christ to draw near to every member of our partners’ staff, and trust that He will renew their hope and resilience as they meet the challenges ahead.

Bible reading

‘Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.’

1 Peter 1: 3-5

Prayer

Saviour God,

We praise and thank you for the resurrection hope at the heart of the Christian faith. We thank you that death could not hold you; you are the Risen King and your reign is eternal.

In this season of hope, draw near to our partners in the Middle East. Restore all of those who are serving you through unspeakably difficult circumstances, and renew their faith and confidence in you as they respond to the challenges before them.

We pray for the marginalised and excluded communities that our partners are serving. Thank you that you know and care for each individual. We pray that you would raise each one up, restore their dignity, and cause them to flourish where they are.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
