Embrace statement in response to new IDF campaign in West Bank
26 November 2025
The announcement of a new military campaign in the northern West Bank is yet another stark reminder of the relentless pressure faced by Palestinian communities. Earlier this year, Israeli forces carried out a large-scale operation in the same area, displacing tens of thousands. For children, this pressure is especially severe and manifested in disrupted routines, restricted movement, and the constant fear created by military activity around their homes and communities.
This escalation reinforces what our Childhood Behind Bars campaign has been highlighting: Palestinian children are growing up in an environment marked by trauma, night raids, and the ever-present risk of military detention. Large-scale operations like this only deepen those vulnerabilities, increasing the likelihood of arrest and threatening children’s safety, wellbeing, and long-term development.
The recent case of 16-year-old Mohammed Ibrahim, an American-Palestinian held in an Israeli prison without charge and subjected to inhumane treatment, is another example of what Palestinian children and their families endure under military detention.
As our partners respond to urgent needs on the ground, Embrace continues to call for the protection of children’s rights and dignity, an end to inhumane practices against children, and meaningful international action to put an end to Israel's occupation of the Palestinian territory.
