From Wilderness to Resurrection Hope:
A Lent Journey Through the Heart of the Holy Land
This series of Lent Reflection videos was filmed in the West Bank in February 2026 prior to the rapid escalation of conflict that we are now seeing across the region. Our partners, particularly in the West Bank and Lebanon, are directly affected and are already responding to urgent need. Please check our Partner Updates Page for the latest news.
WEEK 1 - THE CHOICES WE MAKE
We begin our Lenten journey on the Mount of Temptation...
...overlooking the ancient city of Jericho and with wilderness stretching out below. In our video reflection, Revd Su considers the Bible readings set for the first Sunday in Lent and looks at the choices Jesus made in the wilderness 2,000 years ago: faithfulness over power, integrity over dominion, sacrifice over comfort.
We too have choices to make – as communities, as churches, as nations. Our choices and actions shape the lives of others in very real ways. So as we enter this holy season, we're invited to reflect on the choices before us and what we can do to help shape the world God longs for and participate in Christ’s healing work.

WEEK 2 - THE SALVATION WE ARE OFFERED
Today we visit the Holy City of Jerusalem...
...a place where identities, histories, and hopes overlap, blend and clash, where the message of salvation feels especially vital. Salvation, from the very beginning, is expansive. It is never confined to one tribe or one moment. It is blessing meant to overflow. If God’s salvation is a gift and a blessing for all, it cannot only be something we receive, it must also be embodied.

WEEK 3 - RECONCILIATION MADE POSSIBLE
Our lenten journey pauses, beside a well...
...the Bible readings for the 3rd Sunday in Lent take us to places of tension and thirst, both literal and spiritual, and invite us to see how God meets people there with grace. These readings encapsulate the journey of Lent. From wilderness to resurrection hope. From fracture to reconciliation. From thirst to life-giving water. Just as God brought water from the rock, and Jesus crossed boundaries to meet the woman at the well, reconciliation continues to be made possible often quietly, faithfully, and at great cost.

WEEK 4 - OPEN OUR EYES
At this point in our wilderness journey, we are invited to see afresh with God-opened eyes...
...the readings for the 4th Sunday in Lent share a single, insistent theme. God invites us to see differently. To look beyond surface appearance, assumptions, and our narrow certainties. Lent offers us this invitation too. It’s about illumination, opening our eyes, hearts, and minds to new possibilities, new ways of seeing. Recognising Jesus in our midst and seeing God’s work where we least expect it.
