Our partners continue to bring light in the darkness - but they need your help

Conflict across the Middle East is unfolding with relentless intensity, devastating the lives of millions. Even as they live through these dark times, Embrace’s partners in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon are working tirelessly to bring the light of Christ amidst the suffering. You can find our more about their incredible work using the buttons below:

The light of life in Gaza

The NECC-DSPR Mobile Clinic distributing aid in Deir El-Balah, Gaza.

In Gaza, Embrace partner, Al Ahli Hospital is one of the only medical centres functioning in Gaza City. Every day, over a thousand people seek refuge and medical care at Al Ahli. Dr Maher and his team work tirelessly, but the number of severe trauma injuries and war-related conditions is simply overwhelming. Yet, in the midst of all this, the hospital is trying to continue routine care, such as cancer screening, whenever possible.

Ongoing aid restrictions mean that famine is a very real threat in Gaza. Expectant mothers and infants are especially vulnerable. We are told by our partners that a generation may already be lost to malnutrition. Nevertheless, our partner NECC perseveres with temporary clinics to offer developmental check-ups and support for new and expectant mothers.

The West Bank: Life under the shadow

East Jerusalem YMCA

Mass insecurity and economic collapse in the West Bank intensifies the already intolerable strain of occupation. In Jenin and Nablus, our partner, East Jerusalem YMCA is offering emergency psychosocial support to young people traumatised by military raids and settler violence. Many of the children they’ve been working with have said that they feel more resilient and better equipped to deal with the danger as a result.

Meanwhile, a year of enforced lockdown has left families struggling for income and unable to meet their basic needs. In Bethlehem, our partner, the Pontifical Mission for Palestine is supporting local businesses and creating much-needed job opportunities that will provide vital income for families.

Please help support the work of our partners in the West Bank by giving a donation today - your gift will help keep the light of Christ shining this Christmas.

Light unto the path for Lebanon’s displaced

Blankets delivered to one of the emergency shelters in Lebanon by Embrace partner Tahaddi.

Lebanon is facing the largest escalation of confl ict with Israel since 2006, leaving over a million people without a safe place to call home this winter. As our partner Hussein told us from Beirut, ‘the view of hundreds of families living in these streets is heartbreaking’.

Already working against a backdrop of acute economic crisis, mass unemployment, and spiralling rates of poverty, our partners are doing all they can to support families displaced by the war. The emergency supplies they have been distributing – such as food, winter essentials, fuel and hygiene kits – are a lifeline for many. But with many more families cut off from their homes and belongings, our partners must now scale up if they’re to reach the many more families in need.

Please help support the work of our partners in the Lebanon by giving a donation today - your gift will help keep the light of Christ shining this Christmas.
